MandalaFest 2016 is the free online event organized to celebrate the joys of creating and coloring mandalas. Come together online with mandala enthusiasts from around the world and enter one (or more!) of the eight creative mandala contests of MandalaFest for a chance to win 20+ prizes! Participants are encouraged to share their love for mandalas by painting mandalas together this weekend or even hosting a mandala party for their friends and families! Host Kathryn Costa will appear several times throughout the weekend in live videos on Facebook to cheer you on and give insights on the power and beauty of the mandala!
What is a mandala? Mandala is a Sanskrit word that loosely translates to mean “circle” or “center.” We often associate the word mandala with the well-known circular designs that have repeating colors, shapes and patterns radiating from their center. Mandalas come in many forms. They can be precise, carefully measured, geometric, and perfectly symmetrical. In contrast, they can also appear free flowing, organic, and asymmetrical. Mandalas are often drawn in circles but they can also be drawn in squares. Once you discover what a mandala is you’ll begin to see them everywhere!
