2016 Art Materials World: An Art Supply Store Bonanza

This post comes to you live from Houston, Texas, at the International Art Materials Trade Association’s 2016 Art Materials World convention and trade show. I’m here to scour the show floor and spot the latest and greatest art supply store merchandise on the market, and then share it with you! With me are some of the F+W fine art community’s finest: Jamie Markle, vice president and group publisher; Maureen Bloomfield, editor-in-chief of The Artist’s Magazine; Mona Clough, content director; Pam Wissman, national account manager; Laura Wooffitt, content metadata specialist; Mary McLane, advertising sales manager; and Carol Lake, advertising sales representative.

The trade show doesn’t open until tomorrow; we’re excited to see the art supply stores’ booths take shape and catch up with artist friends such as Liz Haywood-Sullivan, who will be demonstrating her painting techniques. I’m especially looking forward to the #ArtsVote2016 session tomorrow, which is a program of Americans for the Arts Action Fund that’s aimed at educating political candidates and mobilizing creative advocates to secure the best arts and arts education policies for the nation. With the presidential election and Arts Advocacy Day (which we mentioned in the April 2016 issue of Watercolor Artist) right around the corner, it couldn’t come at a better time!
